Bridal Suite Day-Of Checklist

By The Hoppenville Team · 4-minute read · Last updated July 12, 2026

Getting ready is its own event, and it moves faster than you expect. Here is what to have on hand in the suite at The Museum at Hoppenville so your morning runs smoothly from the first curling iron to the walk down the aisle.

What to Pack the Night Before

Pack a labeled bag the night before so nobody is searching for anything in the morning.

  • Your gown or suit in a garment bag, plus a sturdy hanger to hold it while you get dressed
  • Undergarments and hosiery, with a backup pair in case something runs
  • Both pairs of shoes: the ones for photos and the ones you will actually dance in
  • Jewelry sorted into a small pouch or case, not loose in a bag
  • A phone charger and a portable battery pack (outlets get busy fast once several people are charging at once)
  • Hairpins, a travel steamer or wrinkle spray, and a small sewing kit
  • Blotting papers and touch-up makeup for the stretch between getting ready and the ceremony
  • Printed copies of your day-of timeline and your marriage license
  • Cash in labeled envelopes for vendor tips
  • A refillable water bottle; the morning is long and easy to get dehydrated during

What to Leave at Home

Skip anything that turns the suite into storage. Gifts, welcome bags, and decor pieces belong with your planner or day-of coordinator, not stacked in your getting-ready space. Because catering on the property runs exclusively through Robert Ryan Catering & Design or Tosco's Catering, there is no need to bring in outside food or drinks for the suite; ask your caterer to route a light breakfast platter or a few bottles of water to the room instead. Leave valuables you will not need that day at home entirely rather than asking someone to watch them.

What We Already Have Ready

The estate handles a few things so you do not have to plan around them. Indoor rain plans come at no extra cost for every venue on the property, and the call gets made together 24 to 48 hours out, so there is no reason to pack backup tents or ponchos in case of weather. On-site parking for about 100 vehicles means your glam squad, photographer, and florist can load in without a logistics headache, and the property is fully ADA accessible for anyone in your party who needs it.

Timing Your Morning

Work backward from your ceremony time with your planner or coordinator, but as a rough shape: hair and makeup first, then the photographer arrives partway through for candid getting-ready shots, then robes or matching separates go on for those photos before the dress or suit goes on last. Build in fifteen more minutes than you think you need; it almost always gets used.

A Note If You're at the Cottage or the Bank Barn

If you are spending the night before at The Cottage, its full kitchen and private porch make it easy to keep coffee and breakfast going for your whole crew without anyone leaving the property, and with three bedrooms sleeping six to eight, there is real room to spread out. If your ceremony is in the Bank Barn, remember the barn itself is not climate-controlled since the doors stay open for the breeze, so a small handheld fan and humidity-proof hairspray are worth packing if you will be touching up on site.
